Even though I do wish I taught at Hogwarts, I also love my fourth grade class. I have been so surprised by how independent students at nine and ten years old can be. They can follow multi-step directions and only take four minutes to pack up in the afternoon. (I know this because we time it.) However, I'm glad that by May - when those little people do start to grow up a little too much for me - I'll be singing songs with the five-year-olds.
It sounds like you have a fondness for the younger students.....I'm wondering why? Do you prefer the songs and stickers? Do you prefer the curriculum? What is it about the 4th grade, wwith wonderful students who are very fast packers, that makes you feel you belong somewhere else?
